Madrone is a creamy and dreamy hardwood native to the America’s west coast. It typically presents a light brown and light pink hues but can develop red coloration in rare cases. While its grain structure is fine and straight, it can be tricky to season as it often twists and bows.
Madrone trees can achieve heights and diameters of up to 125 feet and 7 feet respectively. It thrives in the coastal mountain ranges of Washington State, Oregon, and California but can also be found on mountain ranges further inland.
It’s a popular choice among the west coast woodturning community.
