Basswood is indigenous to the lakes regions of central and northeastern USA. It is soft, light and has a fine straight grain. This makes it a favourite amongst the carving and woodturning communities.
It’s softness and lightness means that it is not ideal for furniture and other objects that need to withstand heavy loads and wear and tear. On the flipside, its lightness and malleability make it great for the building of musical instruments and beautiful blonde strip-plank watercraft like Camp H.F.
